By combining the ease of the Meraki interface with strong switching technology, the Catalyst 9300-M meets the most demanding corporate applications. The Catalyst 9300-M has multigigabit ports, 480G stacking, and modular 10/40G uplinks to support high-bandwidth applications and the deployment of high-speed 802.11ax/wifi-6 access points. With quick stack convergence and Stack Power, the Catalyst 9300-M provides robustness.

To enable scalable security, the Catalyst 9300-M employs Adaptive Policy via an over-the-wire tag that splits traffic into security groups. The Catalyst 9300-M is integrated into the Meraki dashboard to give a straightforward powerful solution to the most demanding wired access applications.

The Cisco Catalyst 9300-M is a switch that can be moved from DNA Mode to Meraki Mode and operated entirely through the Meraki Dashboard. Meraki Mode enables cloud-based functionality such as zero-touch provisioning, automated firmware upgrades, network-wide visibility, and remote troubleshooting on the switch.  If necessary, the Cisco Catalyst 9300-M can be moved back to DNA Mode.

The Meraki MS390 is a switch that can only be handled via the Meraki Dashboard. It cannot be moved to DNA Mode or any other operating mode.  The Meraki MS390 shares the same hardware as the Cisco Catalyst 9300, but it runs a separate software that is tailored to cloud administration.

Both switches include 10G, 25G, and 40G uplinks, redundant power supply, stackable construction, and strong security features in common. The Meraki MS390, on the other hand, contains various Meraki Dashboard-exclusive capabilities, like as Layer 7 firewall and traffic shaping, Layer 3 dynamic routing, and virtual stacking.

Depending on the mode of operation, the Cisco Catalyst 9300-M can be controlled locally or centralized. Only the Meraki MS390 may be administered centrally via the Meraki Dashboard. A DNA license is required for Meraki Mode and a Smart License for DNA Mode on the Cisco Catalyst 9300-M. A Meraki Enterprise or Advanced license is required to use the Meraki MS390.
