This is a introductory article on VMware NSX SDWAN ( earlier known as Velocloud SDWAN) onramp feature. we will come up with the configuration and deployment article of VMware NSX SDWAN onramp feature in next series of VMware NSX SDWAN.

What is VMware NSX SDWAN?

VMware NSX SDWAN is a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) solution that connects branch offices and remote locations to the corporate network and the Internet in a more secure, reliable, and efficient manner. It is a cloud-based system that optimizes network and application performance by combining network virtualization, dynamic routing, and application-aware rules.

Organizations can manage and coordinate their network infrastructure, including routing, security, and Quality of Service (QoS), from a single console using VMware NSX SDWAN. VMware SD-WAN Edge connects private, public, and hybrid applications in a highly secure and optimal manner. To ensure optimal application performance, it conducts deep application identification and end-to-end quality of service.

VMware SD-WAN OrchestratorThe VMware SD-WAN Orchestrator is a cloud-based solution that offers centralized enterprise-wide installation, setup, and real-time monitoring while orchestrating data flow across the cloud network. It is simple and straightforward to use, allowing for business policy abstraction as well as quick deployment and configuration.

VMware SD-WAN GatewayThe third important component of the system is VMware SD-WAN Gateways, which provide an efficient cloud on-ramp to SaaS and IaaS products. VMware SD-WAN or service providers completely automate, manage, and run it.
