ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent Software upgrade on Cisco SDWAN routers

As in our earlier article, you discussed about the running the ThousandEyes Enterprise Agent on SDWAN devices using the feature template and if you are not getting the newer version then you need to download a new version of Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise agent software and upload the software to Cisco vManage (Virtual image)

Here are the steps below

Step 1: Login to the Cisco vManage and choose Maintenance > Software Upgrade

Step 2: Select the Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN devices on which you want to upgrade the Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise agent software. In our case we are using Cisco C8300 SDWAN cEdge routers

Step 3: Click Upgrade Virtual Image. In the Virtual Image Upgrade dialog box, choose the new version of the Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise agent software from the drop-down list. Click Upgrade.

Step 4: On the Maintenance > Software Upgrade page, select the Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN devices on which you upgraded the Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise agent software and Click Activate Virtual Image as you are doing for the other images.

Note: Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN devices without external storage cannot be upgraded with Cisco ThousandEyes Enterprise agent software.

An agent is installed and launched using the bootflash in such devices. It is not possible to upgrade agent software with Bootflash because it does not have the storage capacity.

The new version of the agent software can be provisioned instead of upgrading the existing software.
