Cybersecurity Crisis: Prudential Financial and LoanDepot Targeted by Alpha Group

The ALPHV/Blackcat ransomware group is claiming ownership of recent network breaches at Fortune 500 business Prudential Financial and mortgage provider loanDepot.

The two companies were added to ALPHV's dark web leak site today, but the threat actors still need to provide verification of their assertions. Following failed discussions, ALPHV intends to sell the stolen data from loanDepot's network while releasing Prudential's data for free.

ALPHV has already made a variety of ignited charges against both victims, all of which should be regarded with a grain of salt considering that they are criminals.

In the instance of Prudential Financial, the gang claims the corporation lied in its regulatory statement, which said that the attackers broke in on February 4 and that systems were confined the next day.

LoanDepot disclosed on January 22 that more than 16.6 million people's private data had been compromised during the ransomware attack, which they verified on January 8, two days after describing it as a "cyber incident" on January 6.

An additional $5 million incentive is available for information on anybody associated with or attempting to participate in ALPHV ransomware attacks. ALPHV appeared in November 2021 and is thought to be a rebranding of the DarkSide and BlackMatter ransomware campaigns.US offers up to $15 million for information on the ALPHV ransomware group.

Trans-Northern Pipelines is investigating ALPHV ransomware attack claims.
