Features in Cisco Viptela SDWAN release 20.6.x

Lets start with the Cisco Viptela SDWAN first and then we will discuss on the new feature sets in Cisco Viptela SDWAN release 20.6.x

Cisco Viptela SDWAN
SD-WAN so called Software Defined WAN solution, where control plane or management plane is separated from the physical devices, while in the Viptela solution we have following architecture, where we have data-plane on the physical devices (obviously), Control Plane by VSmart or VBond Management tool, Management Plane via VManage and Orchestration plane.

Features in Cisco Viptela SDWAN release 20.6.x

So let's talk about what new features has been added on the Cisco Viptela SDWAN release 20.6.x

  • Support for Reverse Proxy and Cisco SD-WAN Multitenancy: Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN devices and Cisco vManage and Cisco vSmart Controllers can be connected through a reverse proxy device in an overlay network. As an added benefit, you can employ a reverse proxy device within both single-tenant and multitenant overlays that include Cisco vEdge or Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN edge devices.
  • The number of WAN edge devices a tenant can add to their overlay network can be controlled by the service provider through tenant device forecasting. Consequently, Cisco SD-WAN controller resources can be efficiently utilized by the provider.
  • Migrate Multitenant Cisco SD-WAN Overlay allows you to migrate Cisco vManage instances, Cisco vBond Orchestrators, and Cisco vSmart Controllers from a multitenant SD-WAN overlay that comprises shared Cisco vManage instances, Cisco vBond Orchestrators, and Cisco vSmart Controllers to a multitenant overlay comprising shared Cisco vManage instances, Cisco vBond Orchestrators, and Cisco vSmart Controllers.
  • You can choose to prefer OMP routes over MPLS routes when using Route Manipulation for Leaked Routes with OMP Administrative Distance.
  • SLA Preferred Colors for Application-aware Routing and Data Policies provide different behaviors to choose preferred colors based on SLA requirements for both application-aware routing policy and data policy configurations.
  • Using Cloud onRamp for SaaS over SIG Tunnels, you will be able to access the SaaS applications securely and will be able to automatically select the best SIG tunnel to access them. Cloud onRamp for SaaS over SIG Tunnels allows you to access the SaaS applications securely.
  • Cisco vEdge Devices Embedded Packet Capture Using CLI Commands provides an alternate method to capture data for troubleshooting connectivity issues between Cisco vEdge devices and Cisco vManage. For capturing traffic details during request stream capture and showing packet capture details, the following commands are introduced as part of this feature
  • Manage Data Collection for Cisco SD-WAN Telemetry allows you to disable data collection for Cisco SD-WAN telemetry using Cisco vManage. Data collection for telemetry is enabled by default.
  • You can view detailed information about the flow of traffic from a device using the On-Demand Troubleshooting feature. This gives you useful information when troubleshooting.
